100 Kids Who Care teaches kids the art of giving
It’s time for kids to take money out of their piggy banks and invest in a good cause.
100 Kids Who Care, a Windsor-based charity, is encouraging children to join the organization and give $10 from his or her savings. It could be something they saved over the Christmas holidays or during the summer break.
100 per cent of the money collected from kids goes to charity. Nominations can be submitted at least three days before one of four meetings held every year. Then three charities are randomly selected to receive the money.
Children suggest the charities, not the parents.
“We have microphones and give it to children to speak about it and why they chose that charity. The children make the decision, the children vote, and we make the donation. We are teaching the children to think about others and help through philanthropy,” said co-chair Mark Dupuis.
The organizers hope children will learn the spirit of giving at a young age and that one does not have to be wealthy to donate.
