$285K blaze on Dougall Avenue blamed on careless smoking

Three people were displaced after a blaze broke out in a duplex in the 2100 block of Dougall Avenue about 6 a.m. Friday.
“I opened my eyes and could see an orange glow coming through the window. And I just freaked out and ran to my friends and woke them up,” said duplex resident Julia Gibel, who discovered the fire and called 911.
Windsor firefighters quickly doused the blaze, which caused $285,000 in damages.
Investigators said the fire was caused by careless smoking.
