Windsor goes to the dogs
Dogs and their owners strutted their stuff down the runway on Sept. 14 for Doggy Style, Windsor’s first dog fashion show in support of the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society.
Organizer and local philanthropist, Jill Thompson, said dog fashion is quickly becoming a worldwide trend.
“They just wrapped up dog fashion week in New York on Aug. 21 and they’ve had that going for a couple of years now,” said Thompson. “There’s a big trend for dogs dressing up and they’ll wear it and know they look good.”
Executive Director of the Humane Society, Melanie Coulter, said she is grateful for these kinds of events because the Humane Society’s budget does not go far enough.
“This is the type of event that we love,” said Coulter. “We don’t have a huge fundraising budget so we really rely on people in the community to make the effort and organize events like this.”
Thompson raised $1,000 with this event and said she hopes to make it an annual event.
