This November American citizens are going to the polls to elect a new president.

The campaigns between Republican nominee and businessman Donald Trump and Democratic nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have covered the media.

While issues from Trump’s controversial comments on race and women to Clinton’s controversial email scandal may not directly affect Canadians, many are still tuning in to keep up with what is going on.

So far two presidential debates have been held and one vice presidential debate. From the point of view of one Windsor resident, it is not going well.

“Both of these candidates are not fit to be president,” said Braden Butcher, a 19-year-old metal-cutting student at St. Clair College. “I can’t trust politicians because it’s been proven they can’t be trusted and you can’t trust billionaires either. That’s a fact.”

Citing many of the scandals Trump has had along with the refusal to release his tax returns, Butcher said it is not a surprise people will not trust Trump, but he also does not trust Clinton.

“They’re not going to follow through with anything they say. Trump is racist and Hillary is corrupt,” said Butcher. “With all the evidence, Trump is going to be the next Hitler with his radical statements toward every race besides Caucasian and Hillary with her corrupt lifestyle where she’ll hide anything.”

When asked who the better candidate would be Butcher said he would lean toward a third party.

“If I was American, I would do my research and see who is the better candidate that’s not them,” said Butcher.

According to Ron Gunzburger’s Politics 1 website, the only other candidate who may appear on the ballot is Former Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party.
