Olympics 

Canada is now up to 13 medals including four gold medals in this year’s Olympic Games. Medalists include Mikael Kingsbury and Ted-Jan Bloemen.

The Canadian women’s hockey team is 3-0 in the preliminary rounds after beating OAR [Olympic Athletes from Russia], Finland and the U.S.A. this week.

Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, figure skating, luge, snowboard and speed skating events all have medal rounds for the remainder of the week.

 

Basketball

The St. Clair College women’s basketball team lost their only game of the past week, 80-73 against Niagara. This is St. Clair’s second loss in a row after losing to Fanshawe last week. The women face Humber College Feb. 17.

The St. Clair men’s basketball team won their only game of the week, beating Niagara 88-86 this past Sunday.

The Windsor Express beat the Niagara River Lions 112-110 Feb. 15. Logan Stutz lead the team with 28 points. He also had two assists and four rebounds. Maurice Jones had 26 points, eight assists and two rebounds.

 

Hockey

The Windsor Spitfires went 1-1 in their past games this week. The Spits won their first game of the week 2-0 against Niagara on Sunday. Former Spitfires captain Aaron Luchuk made his return to Windsor for the first time since being traded Thursday in a 5-4 overtime loss against the Barrie Colts. Luchuk was named first Star of the Game with a goal and three assists.
