Shovel your winter worries aside and high tail it to the sun this March Break.

The recent weather has many Windsorites anxious to get out of the cold and into the sun this March. According to Environment Canada, 16.4 centimetres of snow came down this past Thursday, breaking Windsor’s record for snowfall on the first day of March.

Josie Baselj, mother of two, said she can’t wait for her family trip to Cuba this March break.

“We are heading to Cuba this March break, we booked this vacation back in November. The prices are cheaper around this time of year, so we could not resist a small vacation,” said Baselj.

Baselj said she is happy to be taking a vacation somewhere warm.

In Ontario, March break takes place between the 12th and the 16th of the month. According to a 2017 poll done by First Call Debt Solutions, the average amount a Canadian plans to spend on their family during March break is $597.

Kathleen Warren, senior travel consultant for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, said this is their busiest time of the year.

“Any planes going out of Windsor around this time are always sold out. Our advice for anyone traveling this March break is to make sure they book ahead of time,” said Warren.

Warren said they get busy around October when it comes to booking a vacation, so the faster the better.

Whether you’re having a “staycation” or traveling somewhere tropical, there are many places in Essex County you can visit during this March break. Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens is offering a March break deal, along with Adventure Bay and Point Pelee. For more information visit:
