Claim Post a new addition to waterfront

The work of a London, Ont. based sculptor is a blazing addition to the Windsor riverfront.
Scott McKay’s sculpture Claim Post resides at the foot of Oak Street and features yellow, orange and red ribbons of steel flowing from a blue pole and stands 10 feet tall. McKay said Claim Post is designed to draw strength from the community.
“While traveling and exploring in the North West Territories, I would occasionally encounter altered trees and stumps that had been marked with coloured ribbons,” McKay said via a City of Windsor press release. “These claim posts were meant to demarcate an area that had been staked by a prospector. The significance of the designated land was to identify an area of value, worth and promise.”
The Windsor Sculpture Park will also see the return of Audio Corridor, a Ian Lazarus piece. The piece had been removed for repairs and has been relocated to McEwan Avenue.
With Claim Post and the return of Audio Corridor, there are now 29 sculptures along Windsor’s riverfront.
