According to an article in the Windsor Star, Windsor’s International Film Festival announced that when the festival kicks back into gear next year it will be extending the event to 10 days instead of three. This year they saw a 10 per cent increase in attendance. It was estimated around 24,000 tickets were sold compared to 2017’s 22,000 tickets. The festival featured 143 different movies from around 21 different countries.
In other local news, Windsor band, Mellodraw, is playing at Rockstar Music Hall on Nov. 9, 2018 at 8 p.m. They will be playing alongside fellow Windsor bands; Talking Violet and Disaster Strike. The show is a celebration of Mellodraw’s new EP “Sunny Days” which releases Nov. 9, 2018. Talking Violet will be playing at 8 p.m. and opening the set. Remember the popular 90s girl band Spice Girls? They announced they will be doing a reunion tour with four of the five original members. Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice, will not be joining them on tour. The tour will begin next year on June 1, 2019 at the Manchester Etihad Stadium.
Bohemian Rhapsody is the title of the new Queen tribute movie that was recently released in theatres. Rotten Tomatoes critics gave the movie a 60 per cent rating with 276 ratings counted so far. However, audiences did not agree with the critic rating: the audience score is sitting at a 94 per cent rating with over 9,000 user votes on the Rotten Tomatoes website. Since the release of the the movie it has made over $150 million.
