Job Fair brings students, employers together

St. Clair College teamed up with the University of Windsor Wednesday, January 23 to host Southwestern Ontario’s largest employer and student networking event.
Hundreds of students from both institutions attended the 20th annual Job Fair which attracted more than 100 employers to the Sportsplex on St. Clair College’s Windsor Campus. Some of the students were dressed to impress; others arrived with resumes in hand, eager to learn about job opportunities with potential employers.
“It’s a really good time for job-seekers right now because there are a lot of really great positions out there,” said Sarah Savage, a recruiter for Active Care Management who was on hand for the event.
Savage said she makes a point of attending the fair every year.
“We’re hoping to meet some people who are currently looking for work and then looking to meet some students who are graduating in the not so far future,” she said.
Available positions ranged from summer jobs to internships and part-time to full-time employment. It’s an event that both students and employers recommend attending.
“You could use this opportunity to learn about what employers want,” said Allen Akintayo, a University of Windsor business student in his final semester.
“You could use those skills and apply it to the job fair like this next time.”
Admission to the event was free to St. Clair College and University of Windsor students with valid student ID. Students planning on attending next year’s fair can download the Job Fair app on Google Play or the App Store to keep track of which employers will be attending.
