Zalev scrapyard fire caused damage but no injuries

A fire with smoke plumes that could be seen across the city at the Zalev Scrap Yard on Wednesday caused more than $20,000 in damage, according to Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.

The Windsor Fire department said there were three grass fires ignited by workers using cutting torches near the vegetation.

They say High winds helped spread the fires to building on the property.

The fire was extinguished by 4:30 p.m  the same day and there are no injuries reported.
