Spitfires lose at home against 67’s

After losing 6-3 in their last outing Sept. 28, the Windsor Spitfires were back home hoping to get back into the win column this week.
Thursday night the Spitfires were on home ice against the top-ranked Ottawa 67’s. The Spitfires were looking to get a win and keep pace in the tight Western Conference.
Despite scoring the game’s first goal, the Windsor Spitfires fell 5-4 in overtime to the Ottawa 67’s. Spitfires centre Tyler Angle and rookie defenceman Ruben Rafkin each recorded two assists in the losing effort. 67’s goalie Cedrick Andree made 25 saves to earn the win for Ottawa.
The Spitfires are back in action on Saturday, as they host the second place Barrie Colts. The game will serve as a homecoming for Barrie Colts head coach and Tecumseh native Warren Rychel. He is in his first season with the Colts, having resigned from his previous position as general manager for Spitfires in July of 2019.
Rychel spent 13 seasons with the Spitfires and earned three Memorial Cups, as the top team in the Canadian Hockey League. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
