NDP MP incumbent Cheryl Hardcastle has apologized following an audio recording that has resurfaced from 2014.

The audio is of a private conversation Hardcastle had with Antonello Di Millo, another 2014 Tecumseh mayoral candidate, following the 2014 municipal election  where Gary McNamara won.

Both Hardcastle and Di Millo claim the call was recorded without their knowledge. The resurfaced audio, posted online by True North Centre, is an edited-down version of a 40-minute call, originally posted online in 2014.

In the video, Hardcastle can be heard calling the voters “stupid” and saying “they drank his Kool-aid.”

In a press conference, Hardcastle expressed regret and apologized for her post-election actions.

The MediaPlex attempted to contact both Hardcastle’s and Tracey Ramsey’s offices but could not reach them for comment.
