With more than 100,000 people walking through the colourful lights at Jackson Park, Bright Lights Windsor must be one of the things to do this holiday season.

Now in its third year, Bright lights will take place from December 6 to January 7, 2019, in Jackson Park. This year there will be thousands of lights, dozens of exhibits and more marketplace vendors.

This year they’re partnering with Autism Windsor Essex to offer sensory-friendly “silent nights.” The lights will be turned on, but the sound will be muted, the stroboscopic elements will be suspended, and glasses will be available to dim the lights.

According to Livia Congi, the program and chapter manager of Autism Ontario Windsor Essex Chapter, this is the first time they have worked with the City of Windsor.

“We are excited for this opportunity for the families that wouldn’t be able to attend this event if modifications were not done. The City of Windsor has been great about making more of their events sensory friendly,” Congi said.

In keeping with the tradition of charitable spirit, this year Bright Lights will support a number of local charities, including Operation Keep Windsor Warm, Autism Ontario Windsor Essex, Windsor Essex Care for Kids Foundation (W.E. Care for Kids), Unemployed Help Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association and the Salvation Army.
