The stage is set for Super Bowl 54. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will square off for a chance to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 2.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes helped lead the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance in more than 50 years with a 35-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, the 49ers became just the third team to advance to the Super Bowl a year after winning four or fewer games, beating the Green Bay Packers 37 to 20.

It’s not just the players who will be entertaining audiences. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are set to perform during the halftime show.

According to NFL Communications, Pepsi and the NFL collaborated with Roc Nation to “bring these two icons together for the first time ever, for what will be an unforgettable performance on the world’s biggest stage”.

“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” said Lopez.  “And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th season, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina.  I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”

Shakira echoed Lopez’s excitement.

“I’m so honoured to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world — and to top it off, on my birthday!” said Shakira.  “This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!”

If that wasn’t enough girl power for one weekend, Lady Gaga will also be taking the stage on Saturday night before the big game at the AT&T TV Super Saturday Night concert in Miami.

The Super Bowl’s unofficial kickoff is on Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
