Saints badminton weekend recap

Several members of the St. Clair College Saints varsity badminton team competed in the Centennial College Invitational tournament the weekend of Jan. 12.

The tournament, held in Scarborough, Ont. saw Saint Vuong Tran advance to the semi-finals of the ‘A’ Flight Men’s Singles, while his partner Sam Lamoure advanced to the quarter finals in singles play. The pair were also finalists in the ‘A’ Flight Mixed Doubles championship.

Lamoure joined Queenie Quintinalla in ‘B’ Flight Mixed Doubles play, losing in the quarter-final match. Tran and Karen Legria also participated in ‘B’ Flight Mixed Doubles play, losing in the quarter finals as well.

The ‘B’ division of Men’s Doubles play had Saints duo Aaron Henry and Luc Su lose in the quarter finals.

St. Clair will play host Jan. 18-20 to the Saints Badminton Tournament, the final event prior to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Regional Championship, held at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont. Feb. 1.
