ALL ABOARD!!! The Spirit of Windsor Engine 5588
The Spirit that keeps on going.
Did you know down at the Windsor riverfront you can see a steam locomotive which is dedicated to the memory of steam train railroading?
Train number 5588 was built in Montreal, Quebec and was in service from 1911 to 1961.
That following year a campaign was launched to save 5588 from the scrap heap by the Historic Vehicle Society of Ontario (Windsor).
It was not until May 6, 1965, that it was dedicated to the community.
