Top Canadian authors come to Windsor

A local bookstore has lined up appearances by top Canadian authors to give reading afficionados a pre-Christmas treat. 

On November 10, Kim Conklin visited Biblioasis on Wyandotte St. E. and read from King of Hope. She was followed by Jamie Tenant who read from River Deserted. 

“This is a pretty realistic book,” said Conklin, who is a writer, filmmaker and podcaster and her stories, poems and films have appeared in journals, anthologies and film festivals.  

“It took a lot longer to get it published,” she said. “It probably took me two years to write it and another year or two to polish.” 

Tenant told the crowd he drew from his time in own time in Japan while writing River Deserted. 

“I managed to come up with the wild ride that is (his book’s main character) River,” said Tenant who is a writer, author and broadcast(er) director based in Hamilton, ON. 

“In it a woman goes back to Japan to solve a mystery but also lived there in her 20’s,” he said. 

The following weekend, author Marty Gervais read from Meeting Thoreau in the Gas Station Diner, followed by Peter Hrastovec who read from There Will Be Fish and Andre Narbonne, who read  from Giller nominee Lucien & Olivia.
