A festive tradition is returning to Windsor for the first time in three years: The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train.

It is set to arrive at Windsor’s CP rail yard at Erie Street West and Janette Avenue on Dec. 1 at 5:45 p.m.

Along with the train’s many decorative lights, attendees will enjoy songs for the season performed live by country music artists Lindsay Ell and JoJo Mason, with the onboard concert starting 6 p.m. and ending 6:30 p.m.

The last time the CP Holiday Train made it to the Windsor area was in 2019. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the train were cancelled due to pandemic precautions.

The train that will visit Windsor on Dec. 1 is the U.S.-bound version, stopping in our city before heading to Illinois and Iowa.

Attendance is free at all of the Holiday Train’s stops — but audience members are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to local food banks.

There will be a collection station at the event, and cash donations will also be accepted.
