Temporary shelter closing postponed

The City of Windsor stated today the John Atkinson Memorial Community Centre will continue to operate for the residents of 1616 Ouelette Avenue until December 9.

The temporary shelter opened last week to house the residents after an evacuation order had been issued due to safety concerns and unsafe living conditions.

City staff and the Red Cross, as well as other community partners have provided displaced residents food, clothing, medical services and housing supports.

No updates are currently available for when residents may return to their apartments.
