LaSalle Vollmer pool closed due to deer break-in

Cleanup is underway at LaSalle’s Vollmer Complex after a deer smashed through a glass window and jumped into the public swimming pool. 

A staff worker at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex can be seen chasing a deer in a video that has been shared on social media.   

Francesco Siino captured the moment that the deer entered the pool area on Sunday at around 2:45 p.m.  

He said everyone around the pool hurried into the changing room to escape to safety. 

Siino calculated that the entire event lasted about 10-15 minutes. 

LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche reported that a deer entered the pool through an exterior window before being safely coaxed back outside. 

The pool is closed for the foreseeable future.
