March 8 International Women’s Day
The interesting thing, about this holiday is that the original story about this holiday, is that its main representatives were Clara Zetkin, the German woman leader, and Rosa Luxemburg. They were also standing for women’s rights and proclaimed this day of March as an International Proletarian Womens day, but why exactly this day? In both socialistic and communist countries this holiday is celebrated. But did you know that there was a march of women in New York City, which was held two times first in1857 on March 8? It was a women’s protest for equal working conditions. The second one was the suffragist march on the March 8 1908, for equal working conditions and against child labor in the factories.
Today people celebrate this day more as a feminine day with flower symbols and chocolates, but the original idea of this holiday was to represent a woman with the same power as a man.
March 9 is the birthday of the one of the most iconic toys ever, Barbie. She was created for the public in 1959. There were multiple protests over decades about this toy, but the company now is much smarter and makes Barbie not just to have the most multiple possible professions to show and teach children, but also, they make them different body shapes to show that beauty it’s not in 90-60-90, ideal hourglass body shape.
March 10 Mario’s Birthday! Because of MAR10. Did you know that he got his name from the original Mario Segal? He was the landlord of a building rented to Shigeru Miyamoto who was creating Mario for Nintendo. He confronted them to pay rent, (probably company had financial troubles) this is the, the don’t reveal but they ended up in agreement, that their main character would get named after him. So, now we have Mario the plumber.
March 11 National Dream Day It’s a beautiful day to remember yourself, that everything is possible, wake up your inner child and ask what you dreamed about but never had time to make it real. There is also an amazing foundation.
March 12 Fanny Pack Day Thank you for this incredible fashionable thing that was born deep in the 80s! I think this bag will never go out of fashion ever again! In the UK they are called bumbags, and in Spain, they are called riñoneras because they look like kidneys.
