In 2008, the Detroit Red Wings raised the Stanley Cup for the eleventh time in franchise history. In 2004, the Detroit Pistons partied down Woodward Avenue bringing home their third NBA championship. The Detroit Lions made the NFC championship game in 2023-2024. The last time the Detroit Tigers played in the World Series was in 2012.

Since then, the most excitement that has come out of Detroit was the Lions late playoff run last year. It’s safe to say fans have witnessed the sports recession during the 2010s in the Motown.

Downtown Detroit is rumbling as a community while the four major sports teams are on the verge of becoming a winning city like it once was in the early 2000s.

The Detroit Tigers made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years and advancing to the ALDS in the MLB playoffs. The Lions have the fifth highest odds to win the Super Bowl. The Red Wings have winning pedigree by signing Stanley Cup champion, Vladimir Tarasenko. The Pistons have unfortunately recorded their worst season in franchise history, tying the 2014-2015 Philadelphia 76ers with 28 straight defeats. The Pistons haven’t had championship pedigree in 20 years.

The “Motor City Kitties” have successfully swept the Houston Astros in a best-of-three game series. The Tigers advance to the ALDS round to take on the Cleveland Guardians. The Guardians have been a dominant team during the regular season, finishing in second place in the American League.

The Tigers are red hot entering the second round, the Lions are sitting in the top 10 in the NFL power rankings, the Red Wings are having a successful pre-season and the Pistons are on the verge of becoming average again. The state of Michigan is excited for the next five years of 313 sports dominance.
