Four males have been arrested following an investigation at St. Rose Catholic Elementary School.

Windsor Police Service were dispatched to the school at 871 St. Rose Ave. Mar. 14 following a report of several young people smashing a vending machine.

Upon arrival, officers found a smashed gumball machine at the north side of the school. Noises were heard from inside the school.

WPS informed those inside a K9 unit was on the scene and would be released into the school.

The handler of the K9 unit heard a steel door open on the north side of the school and witnessed two suspects exiting the building. On seeing the officer, the suspects fled despite several verbal warnings.

The K9 unit was released and apprehended one of the male suspects by biting his right arm and taking him to the ground. The 14-year-old male was later treated for two small puncture wounds to his arm.

After further investigation determined the gumball machine was taken from Centennial Pool at 6695 Wyandotte St. E., police attended an apartment building in the 6400 block of Wyandotte Street East and placed three other males aged 17, 18 and 19 under arrest without incident.

The four men arrested are facing charges of break and enter, mischief and theft.

 

In a 24-hour period spanning Mar. 14-15, Windsor Police Service:

▪          Answered 285 calls tochemergency 911 phone lines

▪          Responded to 57 calls to 911 requiring police assistance

▪          Handled 284 calls for service

▪          Issued 67 tickets for provincial offences

▪          Arrested and lodged 12 prisoners
