Incident in the Detroit River
By Sean Previl
A local man is dead after police officials found a body in the Detroit River.
The 53-year-old Windsor man was found floating in the river around 8 a.m. Aug. 16 after an unnamed witness reported seeing the body.
“A body was discovered in the river [and the] U.S. Coast Guard recovered the body,” said Sgt. Pam Mizuno of the Windsor Police Services.
Mizuno said no foul play is suspected in the death and the name of the man has not been released.
Petty officer Adam Bonskey of the U.S. Coast Guard in Detroit said they had deployed after receiving word from WPS.
Mizuno said this death is unrelated to the missing person’s report made Aug. 15 for 53-year-old Paul Fleet, who has still not been found.
For more information about this case or if you have any information about the location of Fleet, please contact the WPS at 519-255-6700.
