Everything has been going right for the LaSalle Vipers so far this season and Oct. 9 things got even better.

Former captain Dylan Denomme returned to the team after a three month stint in Nanaimo, B.C. playing in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Denomme led the Vipers in points last season and started right where he left off against the Chatham Maroons, scoring two goals in a 4-2 win Oct. 9.

“I’ve just got to keep it simple and keep playing my game, it worked tonight,” said Denomme. “(Two goals) got the monkey off my back a little bit tonight.”

Head coach Bill Bowler said having Denomme back is going to be great for the team that has had so much success already this season.

“Having Dylan (Denomme) back is obviously a welcomed addition,” said Bowler. “He was (LaSalle’s) leading scorer last year, he was an all-star last year, so obviously it’s a huge boost for our team. We’ve had a good start and by adding him it solidifies our roster.”

This is Denomme’s fifth year with the LaSalle Vipers. He said he was excited to return and is here for one reason.

“I want to win a Sutherland Cup, that’s it,” said Denomme. “I was really nervous before the game. I was just so excited today, I couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep last night and I was just so pumped until the puck dropped.”

With LaSalle having points in every game this season the chemistry on this team has grown quickly. The young players on the team have stepped up to win games. With Denomme back, line changes will be imminent. However Bowler said he isn’t worried about changes to the team.

“We were never concerned about it, we do our homework,” said Bowler. “There’s no question we like working with Dylan (Denomme).”

Bowler said he is expecting Denomme to continue to play well and contribute offensively just like he did last year for LaSalle.

“Nothing will change,” said Bowler. “We anticipate him to help our team progress and help out the younger players as well.”
