A Reason To Remember MOVEMBER

For 21 years November has been a month of mustaches, fundraising and awareness for men’s health all thanks to the MOVEMBER Campaign.  

MOVEMBER is a charity initiative dedicated to promoting and fundraising for testicular and prostate cancers as well as men’s mental health and suicide prevention. 

The initiative was started by Travis Garone and Luke Slattery in Melbourne, Australia back in 2003 and was inspired by a friend’s mother’s efforts to fundraise money for breast cancer awareness. By 2006 the campaign had become a registered charity in Australia and by 2011 MOVEMBER was fully registered in Canada. In 2023 MOVEMBER raised a total of $128.2 million globally.  

However, in the years since its inception MOVEMBER has pivoted from just prostate and testicular cancers. MOVEMBER initiatives have grown to include fundraising for both suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
