Accident on Sandwich Street

A 49-year-old man has been sent to hospital after a motorcycle accident Sept. 8.

The accident happened on Sandwich Street in front of Mackenzie Hall at approximately 10 a.m.

Sandwich Street will be blocked for the next couple hours, leaving only the sidewalks accessible until the Accident Reconstruction Investigation team can piece together exactly what happened.

The severely damaged bike stood among debris of cement and glass from a nearby planter and fallen lamp post on the South side of the road.

Windsor Police Sgt. Westenberg said the explanation of how and why this happened is still being investigated.

“The bike was traveling westbound on Sandwich Street and for unknown reasons at this point he lost control,” said Westenberg. “The driver is still being treated at the hospital with serious injuries. Drivers need to pay attention to their surroundings and drive safe”

The Olde Sandwich Towne festival will be proceeding during the investigation.
