DC’s New Absolute Batman Sells out From Distributors

According to a local source, comic book shops in Windsor can no longer order the first printing of Absolute Batman.

October marks the debut of Absolute Batman, a new take on the character that strips him of his wealth, mansion, and father-figure, Alfred.

Absolute Batman is part of DC’s new series, Absolute Universe, a jumping-on-point for new and old comic readers. Created from the aftermath of the Absolute Power Comic event DC wrapped up in early October, the current lineup includes Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Superman. There is also a Flash comic planned for release in March of 2025, and a Green Lantern book with a release date that has yet to be announced.

Shawn Cousineau, owner of Rouges Gallery Comics, said the sell-out was unsual.

“What’s a little less common is the larger amount (of issues) an initial number one typically gets on top of already going to second printing and has already technically sold out,” said Cousineau.

Absolute Batman hit store shelves on Oct. 9, and the second printing will be available on Oct. 30.
