Vancouver police make arrest in hit-and-run death of Windsor skateboarder
Vancouver Police have made an arrest in the April 2016 hit and run death of Windsor musician and skateboarder Ryan Barron.
Barron had been skateboarding with a friend on Heather Street in Vancouver when he was struck by a vehicle. He later died in hospital.
Two days after the incident, Vancouver Police located a damaged vehicle. Following a 32-month investigation, police charged Amanpreet Sohal, 23, with dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm.
Barron had moved to Vancouver from Windsor in 2015 for work. He had been well known to the skateboarding and hardcore music community in Windsor.
A Facebook group “Justice for Ryan” provides updates on his case and posts from Barron’s friends and family.
Barron’s mother posted that her Christmas wish had come through and that “Justice is finally served”.
