Artilicious 2016 at Caesars Windsor
For anyone looking for dinner, Artilicious Windsor cooks up a combination of local food and art.
The third annual Artilicious was a celebration of food and art held on Nov. 9 at Caesars Windsor. More than 500 attended the event which raised over $18,000 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada Windsor and District Chapter.
Guests enjoyed a night of sampling foods from different countries such as Italy, Korea and Greece. There was also Armando’s pizza, a Windsor favourite.
Artilicious also offered guests the opportunity to shop at 16 local artisan vendors.
“Artilicious is unique and high quality,” said fund development officer Erika Muscat. “It’s a bargain to get food and art included in the ticket price.”
Artilicious hopes the event will shed light on kidney disease. According to the Kidney Foundation of Canada website, 1 in 10 Canadians has kidney disease, and millions more are at risk. Each day an average of 15 people are told that their kidneys have failed. The number of Canadians being treated for kidney failure has more than tripled in the past two decades.
Plein Air Painter Elizabeth Gaye MacDonald said kidney disease affects her personally.
“The Kidney Foundation is great,” said MacDonald. “I have people in my family who have kidney problems, so this is a good thing for supporting the Kidney Foundation. There are different restaurants and it’s a lot of fun.”
Attendees appeared satisfied with the event, the amazing dishes and good atmosphere. The fourth annual Artilicious is expected to be held in November 2017.
