Banana Pancake
Banana Pancake with Madeline Mazak
A hearty guide to ethical travel.
In 1950, 25 million people were travelling the world. Fast forward only a few decades and that number has skyrocketed to 1.4 billion—and that growth is not expected to slow down anytime soon. In fact, the United Nations World Tourism Organization predicts that 2 billion people will cross borders every year by 2030. It’s hard to deny travel is easier and more accessible than ever before. And that calls into question: as tourists, are we responsible for ensuring we make ethical choices while travelling, decisions that preserve and protect the destinations we travel to and respect the people and cultures that exist there? Madeline Mazak asks the hard questions and looks back on her own travel experiences to see where she could have done better.
