Brews and running shoes
Brews and running shoes, an unlikely combination for most.
For Windsor resident Corey Bellemore, however, he found a way to combine both of these passions.
The beer mile is an event where contestants drink four beers while running four laps around a quarter mile long track.
In search for leisure, Bellemore flew to London, England to compete in the Beer Mile World Classic.
Not only did he win, but he topped the world record, completing the race in four minutes and thirty four seconds, beating the previous record holder.
According to Bellemore, there isn’t much strategy to running the beer mile.
When he’s not running with a cold one in hand, University of Windsor co-track and field coach Kevin Johnston said Bellemore is a vital part to the team
Bellemore’s success at the Beer Mile World Classic earned him a sponsorship deal with Adidas.
He said he still hopes to make the Canadian National team in 2020.
