Glowing reviews for Bright Lights Windsor has led to a change in operating hours.

The $1.5 million light set up was a massive hit amongst Windsor area residents. Thousands of people have already visited Jackson Park to see the lights and special programs.

Due to the overwhelming response, park staff will now be turning on the lights and opening the gates an hour earlier at 5:30 p.m. The closing time remains the same at 10 p.m.

Special events such as live music, magic shows and Santa photos will continue to be held at 6:30 p.m.

Windsor resident Jenna LeBeouf attended the event with family and was impressed by the festival’s displays.

“The lights are amazing,” said Lebeof. “I love all the colours. They put on a really good show and I loved it.”

The city is discontinuing the horse and carriage rides that were originally offered at the park, because of safety concerns, but there are still more things to enjoy at the park including hot chocolate sales and musical performances.

The display ends on Jan. 7, 2018
