Cancer research imaging machine unveiled by UWindsor
Researchers at the University of Windsor showed off the new high-resolution imaging machine at the Essex Centre of Research (CORe) on Thursday.
A $15,000 donation from Caesars Windsor’s Concerts for a Cure funded the purchase for the new FluorChem-HD2 imaging system.
The imager will be made available to around 50 research scientists of multiple disciplines. It is capable of analyzing different proteins in a cell, including DNA and RNA, which is imperative for cancer research.
In the future, researchers will be using the equipment to analyze patient samples and suggest targeted treatment.
