Car smashes through Starbucks window

A driver has taken the term “drive thru” literally after driving into a Starbucks located in South Windsor.

The car went through the front doors of the Starbucks shop located at 3290 Dougall Ave just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Brent Costelo was in the store when the driver went smashing through the store window. He said his first reaction was to turn the car off.

“The tires were spinning inside so I was more worried about turning the car off,” said Costello. “I slammed on the window trying to get her attention to turn it off but she didn’t notice anything.”

Costello said everyone seemed to be fine with no injuries and claims the people who were sitting at the table she hit had left to place an order just moments before the accident.

Police confirm the driver went to the hospital as a precautionary measure but say there were no injuries.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened.
