Celebrate the holidays in Amherstburg
Come down to Amherstburg to witness the lighting of the town tree and accompanying River Lights festival!
Every year, Amherstburg spends thousands to decorate the town to create a dazzling display of holiday-themed lights. These lights span from Toddy Jones Park to Navy Yard Park, and every year they seemingly get larger. These lights are donated by local businesses and represent different figures and objects that showcase the businesses.
Taking a walk in the Navy Yard Park, visitors are greeted by a colourful display of Christmas lights with a beautiful backdrop of the Detroit River. Visitors can also stop by the Caffeine Company Cafe, located right next to the giant Christmas tree on the water, and pick up some delicious hot chocolate.
A Santa Claus parade is also a staple in Amherstburg during the holidays. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, a parade is off the table. To replace it, the Santa Claus parade will be stationary and have cars drive by it. This way, visitors can remain in the safety of their vehicles while enjoying the parade at their own pace.
Lastly, new to this year, Amherstburg will be holding a holiday house tour. The houses and shops that line the waterfront will be decked out with holiday decorations. Photo ops are encouraged, and a contest will be held at the end to judge the very best!
