Celebrating black composers

In honour of Black History Month, 4th Wall Music will be celebrating the contributions of black songwriters and musicians with a night of classical, ragtime and gospel music performances.
The Capitol Theatre and Amherstburg Freedom Museum are both hosting the night on Feb. 24 and 25 which will feature cover performances of artists from the 1700s to the present.
Performers include Detroit-based violinist Velda Kelly with Windsor pianist Mike Karloff and Soprano Shahida Nurullah. Other guests include Joseph Boulogne, Le Chevalier de Saint George, William Grant Still, Shelton Brooks and Scott Joplin.
Irene Moore Davis, president of the Essex County Black Historical Research Society will be there to discuss the impact of music on the history of Windsor.
