Chatham Kent Public Library canceling overdue fines
The Chatham Kent public library is cancelling overdue fines in exchange for food donations.
Between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30, 2019, the library offers their Food for Fines project. This allows people to hand in nonperishable food items to any CKPL branch and in return the library will knock off $5 in overdue fines per donated item.
“Donations will be given to local organizations to benefit people in communities across Chatham Kent,” according to Chatham Kent Public Libraries. CKPL will also accept new and unopened hygiene products. For people who do not have any fines and want to donate as well, the CKP will still take the donation to make a difference in the community.
If you would like to find out more information you can visit the CKPL website.
