Chatham lottery winner in cash dispute with former partner
A $6 million Chatham lottery winner is in a legal battle with his former live-in partner over sharing his winnings.
Leamington native Maurice Thibeault claimed more than $3 million from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
However, the good news for Thibeault ended there.
His partner Denise Robertson, who he lived with for two years until September 2017, said they had agreed any lottery winnings would be shared between them “As a couple.”
This is a claim Thibeault denies.
“I am greatly saddened and disappointed by what has happened here. This could have been a very happy and exciting time for us a couple to do things we could only dream of doing,” said Roberston in a written statement.
Robertson continued, outlining the things she and her former partner allegedly would have done with the money.
“Together we dreamed about winning the lotto,” said Robertson.
“We both love muscle cars, we would each buy one and buy a large property in the county and build a large shop to
work on our cars.”
Robertson said she hopes the investigation is timely in its completion and doesn’t want to continue with further litigation.
