Chinese Annual Gala in Windsor
Last Saturday was the beginning of the Chinese dog year, according to the lunar calendar.
The Chinese Association of Greater Windsor hosted its annual Chinese New Year Gala at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts.
Guests were not only Chinese Canadians and international students but also distinguished Canadians who showed great interest in the festival. The gala started with 10 course dinner in the Skyline Hall followed by performances.
Attendees were dressed in Chinese traditional outfits from cheongsam (a body-hugging one piece dress) to tunic suits. For certain number of Chinese Canadians, this is not the first time attending this event overseas.
Drew Dilkens, mayor of Windsor, attended and addressed the crowd at the beginning of the party.
“I want to thank everybody for all of their great work to help to bring this community together because the stronger the community is the greater for the city of Windsor,” he said.
