Chinese choir performs at Capitol Theatre

About 100 Chinese performers from Windsor and Detroit took part in a concert at the Capitol Theatre to raise funds for children in Sichuan province.
Zhenzhong Ma, president of the Chinese Association Greater Windsor, said the CAGW organized the event to celebrate the Winxin choir’s tenth anniversary.
Weixing Wu, the director of the choir, said events like this help newcomers adjust to life in Canada.
“As more Chinese people come to Canada, more local events help them adapt to the local life,” he said. “They also make them feel home and inherit Chinese culture.”
The concert concluded with the singing of “My country.”
The event raised nearly $20,000, which will be donated to the “left-behind” children, who remain in rural regions of China while their parents leave to work in urban areas, through Rotary International.
