Christmas Con arising
by Kristine Klein
The third annual Christmas Comic Con is coming to Windsor.
Dec. 7, 2014, Mike Michalski will be bringing yet another Con to Windsor after about a year of planning and organizing.
“It feels stressful, but it’s great. I know I put together three good shows. It’s easily the biggest, most star-packed show that Windsor has ever seen,” said Michalski.
Christmas Con 2014 is a friendly environment for all ages who share the same interests Michalski explained.
“No one judges each other. So many people are afraid to be themselves. It’s liberating to go to something where everyone can be themselves, have fun and hang out,” said Michalski.
Children 10 and under are invited to go in for free in hopes of encouraging parents to bring their children, according to Michalski.
“The reason I did that is to get the kids interested in something, see costumes, get comics to go home and start to read. It’s a great learning tool,” said Michalski.
Christmas Con is going to feature many comic book artists and writers, along with special guest appearances. Tony Gray is Michalski’s close friend and has been featured in all the Christmas Cons to date. Gray, who brought us the comic book character The Incredible Conduit, will be returning this winter. The Conduit plays a big role in the Christmas Cons.
“He needed a cover and I was happy to do it for free for him, it’s almost become a tradition now,” said Tony Gray.
This year the Con is taking place in St. Clair College Centre of the Arts. It gives comic book fans an opportunity to meet their favorite comic book artists and writers as well as a chance to purchase comic book-related merchandise.
