City holds public meeting on Cabana Road Reconstruction project
The City of Windsor hosted a public meeting Wednesday to advise residents of a planned permanent road closure as part of the Cabana Road Reconstruction Project.
Mayor Drew Dilkens said council approved $50 million for the widening of Cabana Road. He said one of the issues is how cars will have to cross more lanes to turn onto side streets, creating more risk for drivers.
“We are going to be adding in buffered bike lanes, sidewalks on both sides,” said city engineer Michael Cappucci.
Residents have mixed feelings about the plan.
“Make it easier to get out from Inglewood on to Cabana and secondly reduce traffic and slow down the traffic coming on to Inglewood now from Huntington that is now being closed,” said Subhas Ramcharan.
The city will collect comments from the public and bring a final recommendation to council by the spring of 2019.
