On Feb. 2 City of Windsor Finalized 2024 Budget at 3.91 per cent Tax Levy Increase. This is below the average rate of inflation and down from last year’s 4.48 per cent.

The budget will pay down legacy debt, increase reserves and invest in growth. To sustain the city’s sharp growth trajectory, Mayor Dilkens included $1.9 million in10-year capital Budget. Investments for roads, sewers, parks and recreation are included in the budget.

The budget was reviewed for two weeks by city councils and public delegations after the budget was tabled on Jan. 8 by Mayor Drew Dilkens. A special meeting was held on Jan. 29 wherein the City Council proposed some amendments to the budget.

All the proposed amendments were accepted by the mayor and did not exercise his veto authority in any of the amendments.

“I am proud to finalize a 2024 City budget that is a delicate and responsible balance of investments and compromises while delivering a tax levy increase below the rate of inflation,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
