City seeks public input on University and Victoria Avenue corridors
The City of Windsor is asking residents what improvements they would like to see in the University and Victoria Avenue corridors.
Possibilities include new parkways, cycling lanes and an extended area for Transit Windsor users, residents were told at a recent public session at the Windsor Aquatic Complex.
Josette Eugenie, the city’s manager of transportation planning, was on hand to inform and engage the public.
“We are looking to hear from the community about priorities for the balance of the public right of way space, including cycling, pedestrians, transit users, green space and where they would like to see some of those enhancements,” said Eugenie.
Comments from the public on how they would like to see the space used are now being accepted.
Jeffrey Williams, a member of River West, a west end residents’ group, called on the city to dream big.
“I would like to see more done with the space than is being planned,” said Williams.
The city’s study “will consider opportunities to optimize the right-of-way to achieve safe, efficient, comfortable and convenient travel for roadway users of all ages, abilities and modes within the study corridors for a 20-year study horizon.”
