College’s library goes digital
Reading is good for your brain, but when you can’t get together with friends and discuss that favourite character’s death, you are left unsatisfied. You are also left to fend for yourself when it comes to studying.
Due to COVID-19, the St. Clair College Library has been closed to in-person use since March 17, 2020. Mellissa Forget, a library technician at the St. Clair Library, said this closing affects face to face student direction the most.
“It’s a little bit harder to facilitate that instant connection right away,” said Forget.
Students have been forced to learn individually, which can be difficult for some who thrive in group settings.
Luckily, the library provides an alternative means for students looking for references and books that they can not get in person.
“Within the last year we have become more prominent with our social media accounts,” said Forget.
“We have also started something called reference guides, so we have tailored all this information, all of our databases into one that is specific for your program. So if you are a nursing student you would go into your nursing guide and find everything you need specific to your course.”
The library looks forward to continuing their communication with students and broadening their use of social media and online means to help students more efficiently.
“We are available online, if you want to reach out to us just email at [email protected], or you can give us a call and we are here to help,” said Forget.
