Canada performs well at Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast
Canada had its second largest single-day medal haul of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Tuesday.
Wrestlers and track and field athletes ensured 13 podium finishes for the country bringing the medal tally up to 60. Athletics Canada has 46 athletes competing at the Games.
Day 4 was another big day for Canada in Australia with 14 medals.
On Day 8, wrestlers Erica Wiebe and Diana Weicker won gold in their respective weight divisions. Christabel Nettey won the women’s long jump and Melissa Paredes and Sarah Pavan won gold medals in the inaugural Commonwealth Games’ women’s beach volleyball tournament.

Silver
- Beach volleyball: Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter — men’s
- Rhythmic gymnastics: Katherine Uchida — all-around

- Diving: Philippe Gagné — men’s 3m springboard
- Diving: Meaghan Benfeito — women’s 10m platform
- Track and field: Shawn Barber — men’s pole vault
- Track and field: Aaron Brown — men’s 200m

- Cycling: Haley Smith — women’s mountain bike
