Downtown Mission now offers 24-hour service
Winter is coming and those living in poverty now have a place to stay warm all the time. The Downtown Mission will now be open 24 hours a day to provide safe accommodations those who require it. According to Ron Dunn, the mission’s executive director, it’s in a response to increased demand.
“Everything we do is a response to the community so lots of folks congregate outside, the weather is starting to dip as we all know,” said Dunn. “In general all of our numbers are swelling across all of our programs, it’s important to respond to the need.”
The Downtown Mission also put in place a third meal of the day. Last year they served over 140,000 meals and provided 7,600 safe nights of accommodation to those in need.
