Downtown residents stream in to polling station

Windsor residents voting at a downtown polling station Monday said voting was “important for the community and we need to hear people’s voices.”
John and Kim Spyorpoulos turned out to vote at the Victoria Avenue polling station with John’s mother Marie.
“Every vote makes a difference,” said John. “We have a say.”

The family was among more than 225 residents who had voted at the polling station by 4 p.m.
“I vote because I want a say in politics about our city,” said John McCain.
Ourda Pardo walks her son Michal Mahollan to school every day and is concerned about safety issues in the core, citing the homelessness and the drug epidemic.
“It is important because there’s a lot of hemorrhaging issues impacting people,” she said.
Elvis Ferranti said he voted Monday so he could hold politicians to account.
“When I vote I can exercise my democratic right and I can’t complain later because I did not vote,” said Ferranti.
A live results viewing party is being held at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts, Skyline Room. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
