Downtown Windsor Clean-Up

Cleaning up our streets is a community responsibility. On Saturday October 21st, the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative took matters into their own hands. The DWCC organized a community clean-up focusing on Windsor’s downtown core. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., volunteers including ward 3 councillor Rino Bortolin, scoured the streets, collecting bags upon bags of litter.
“It was so encouraging to see more than 40 plus volunteers in addition to several local businesses show up to help out! We easily collected a dozen mattresses, another dozen couches/chairs, plus tons of extras and many dozens of bags.” said the DWCC on their Facebook page.
Litter is not just an eye sore in Windsor, it is a growing safety concern as well. The DWCC wants to “renew the city through neighbourhood community.”
The group of Windsor residents came to represent local agencies such as Dinunzio Protection Services and A+ Plus Contracting Ltd. Some of the sponsors included Snack Bar-b-q and The Downtown Pizza Co. who provided food for all the volunteers.
The DWCC has high hopes for Windsor, “Our vision is that Windsor would be a good place to grow up and good place to grow old, and we will collaborate and partner with anyone who shares this vision for the city”
